Hello, my name is Cray Cray, and I am a cherax quadicarinatus crayfish. I like peas, corn, and hiding. Im a bit shy around strangers at first, but give me time (and food) and we'll get to know each other!

Friday

A crayfish story

So I wanted to wake Cray Cray up to take photos of her. She usually sleeps on her side!

Not happy to be woken up.

At first she thought it it was feeding time because I dropped some food in.. Just to lure her out. hehe

Squeezing throught the narrow passageway...

Climbing onto the wood.. And then she realized that it was another photography session.

ÄHHH THE FLASH! THE LIGHTS! RETREAT! RETREAT!

"Don't you ever do that again!"

"You stay away now..."

And then I kept insisting on taking pictures and she got pretty annoyed....

She climbed right out...

And then up,

up to the platform where she knew I would want her to go to..

And then...

she cast me the evil eye just before

"Stay away you crayzee womannnnnnn!!!"

"Ha.....

....HAAAAIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

And then she flew right at me!
(kind of. but she didn't hit the tank or anything.. Just gave me a shock! haha!)
After giving me a piece of her mind, she went back to her cosy corner and took a nap.
We're currently not on talking terms.

Note: This is a true story.

Thursday

A blessing and a curse

One of the guppies (Yellow tail) is pregnant! I can confirm this with an ultrasound. Ok la, it just looks bigger than the other female so I assume she is. But I can gurantee 90% that's she's not just fat.

I've been messing round with the layout of the aquarium again.. I've put the piece of wood back into the water after i did a change on Tuesday. BUT. I realised that it discolours the water, and makes it yellow-ish even though i JUST cleaned the water. Augh.

But no bother. with more places for Cray to hide, and because there are lots of obstacles, it's harder to get at the fish...

Or so I thought.

for some reason, after I changed the water, the fish seemed to lose all fear of Cray cray and they swam right into her claws. I was just staring when i witnessed this strange and dangerous phenomenon. Two of them had their tails snipped off (well, half of it anyway).. But hey can still swim so it's ok.

Ah. Life. How marvelous.

Tuesday

Baby pictures!

She's only a month old in these. and I used my handphone so the quality may not be that high.
But you'll also notice that the tank setup changes quite a bit.... That's because I was still busy adjusting the setting, seeing what she likes and what she doesn't to make her home as comfy as possible. :)

TINY!

Oh cray....

I wish I was a crayfish
trudging on the bottom
I'd eat a fish occassionally,
sometimes i'd treat them rotten.

I wish I was crayfish,
then i won't have to go to school
and do stupid assignments
yeah. that's real cool

I wish i was a crayfish
Then i won't shop so much
I'd have an algae wafer
And that's enough

I wish I was a crayfish
Cuz i can't write poetry.

Light and new friends

My only surviving prawn* has mysteriously disappeared, along with my neon tetra.
Ok, so maybe it's not so mysterious, given the fact that I have been feeding Cray Cray a lot less.

I've decided to feed her once a day instead of twice, and she's a lot more active in the day now (during feeding time) because she KNOWS that it's all she's going to get for the day.

Since their disappearance, I have decided to protect the lives of my remaining fish, so i added in new fish**! I now have three more platies (who look like Molly but one is white with black spots, and the other is black with white spots, and a white one) and three fry.. I don't know exactly what they'd grow into just yet.. how exciting! Hopefully they'll get a chance to grow fully, or at least, don't disappear before I know what they become.

Ok, so that's it for now.

*The prawn story will be told some other time. it's too evil for words.
** Feeders from my father's aquarium meant for some bigger fish.
